About Testing Services

Testing accommodations are available for students with an Individual Accommodations Plan (IAP) that identifies a need for extra time, a reader, scribe, different testing format, etc. Once students have an IAP, they are able to book a test by using our online form. We provide the space for testing, required software and invigilation, as necessary.

Testing FAQs

Students who have established an Individual Accommodation Plan (IAP) with an NBCC Learning Strategist may use Testing Services. A student can contact the Learning Strategists anytime for clarification or questions. They can send their inquiry or concerns to learnerservices@nbcc.ca.

Testing Services supports students who have specific needs during testing. Most often, these needs are extra time and a separate space. Some students require a reader or a scribe. We offer equipment to make the student as comfortable as possible, such as fans and a noise machine, and to help combat hurdles, such as test anxiety.

You will receive an email from the Testing Coordinator or an assistant informing you that your student needs accommodations. You do not need to respond to this email.

If your test is online, the student likely needs extra time or an online reader, as outlined in their IAP. If a an online reader is required, you must disable Respondus. You are responsible for ensuring this is completed in time for the test. We will provide an in-person reader if needed.

If your test is in person, the student likely needs extra time, a separate location and possibly a reader, as outlined in their IAP. Please drop off paper tests to the Testing Centre dropbox (in Moncton and Saint John) or the Library Learning Commons (on all other campuses) by the day before your established test date. Please also complete and return the Letter to Instructor template accompanying the request.

No, we encourage students to book a testing location and complete the entire test in one location.

Yes, we can work with you to find a solution.

We are here to assist the student with whatever issues may arise. We ask that you be available via Teams when you have a student testing in a separate location.

The process for picking up paper tests depends on your campus:

  • In Fredericton: Tests will be in a sealed envelope at the Welcome Desk for pick up.
  • In Miramichi: Tests will be in a sealed envelope in the Library for pick up or delivered to your office.
  • In Moncton: Tests can be picked up in the Testing Centre.
  • In Saint John: Tests will be in a sealed envelope at the Welcome Desk for pick up.
  • In St. Andrews: Tests will be in the Library for pick up or delivered to your office.
  • In Woodstock: Tests will be in a sealed envelope at the Welcome Desk for pick up.

Yes. Please ensure you let us know that you would like all sheets of paper returned. We properly shred all documents left in our centers to ensure privacy and academic integrity.
